This Thursday's chapter meeting speaker-John Marci

If you have been around for a while, you know John Marci used to be a member of the chapter, before re-locating to upstate NY.

Well John will be back with the chapter again this Thursday to talk about Bamboo Rods. The history, the making of them and some interesting facts you probably didn’t know. If you happen to have a bamboo rod, bring it and John can tell you more about it.

Join John and the chapter this Thursday at 7:30pm at the American Legion Hall!

Back in Business!!! Fly tying club.

Well, Big Erich Frie, the former webmaster, is now at Seton Hall, studying to be an engineer. He understandably doesn’t have time to take care of the site, so I, El Presidente, will jump back in, to keep things up to date for the time being. Ill try to make frequent updates and to keep everyone apprised of all the cool things happening with the chapter.

One thing that I will give a sneak preview on is the new fly of the month club.

Here is how it will work.

We will invite any interested member to tie a specific pattern. You tie 6 of them in whatever size you wish, just make sure they are all the same size.

Bring them to the meeting.

3 of the flies you tie will be donated to the chapter and used for the bucket raffle. The other 3 flies go into a separate bucket raffle that will only be open to the tiers who participated that month.

So if you participate, you could win lots of flys! Either way, its a way to get members tying.

Well try it once and see how it goes. Thanks to member Eric Sack for the idea.

Steelies and Salmon

Anyone who has attended our meetings before is familiar with Erik Barton and his ability to tie amazing salmon flies and his ability to catch quality steelhead. Luckily for us he will be the presenter at this months meeting on June 14th. He will be talking about fishing on the salmon river and will also show us some of his special flies that catch fish. Erik is a great kid who is very knowlegdabel on the topic and has a plethora of enthusiasm and cannot wait to share his experience with us.

Protecting the Upper Delaware

Our May chapter meeting will be on Thursday May 10th. At this meeting our guest speaker will be Jeff Skelding who is the executive director of Friends of the Upper Delaware River. He will be discussing ways they have been protecting the ecosystem of the Upper Delaware in order to protect this amazing area for future generations, so they too can one day enjoy be wildlife we have. Jeff is a very knowledgable man and is dedicated to protect our cold water recourse and if you attend you may even find some inspiration to partake in local conservation projects, or even start your own project. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
