Chris Wood to visit Hacklebarney!

Chris Wood...yes that Chris Wood, the CEO of our great organization, will be visiting  Hacklebarney for our May meeting.  Since Chris is a busy guy, managing a global brand, we are changing the date of the meeting to May 19th.

This is your chance to meet the head of Trout Unlimited and ask all the burning questions that have been on your mind.

The buck stops with this dude!

The buck stops with this dude!

Chris has never come to meet with a NJ chapter like his before, so it is a real coup that he will be doing it with Hacklebarney. Thanks to John Montefusco to making this happen.

So remember, no meeting the second Thursday of May.  The meeting is now MAY 19th.

Be there.

This is what it is all about!

We had a report from Bob Paski, who was one of four members who turned out to volunteer their time at the Morristown fishing derby.

We helped kids bait their hooks and generally put them in a position to catch fish.  We also donated prizes for the fishing contest.

What does this do you might ask?  It might be the turning point that creates a life long love of fishing.  It might do little.  But how can you look at the smiles on the faces of the winners and say it was anything but a huge success.  Thanks to all you volunteers!

Bob reports, "It was a beautiful cool morning for the 2016 Fishing Contest at Burnham Park Pond near the center of Morristown today. There were many enthusiastic young participants, but as luck would have it, the fishing was very slow, but that didn't deter the fishing participants. The four Hacklebarney TU members that were there, provided advice and support. The Mayor of Morristown, Tim Dougherty, also stopped by to greet the young anglers. I am attaching two pictures I took of the Hacklebarney TU fishing endurance award winners. We did get permission from the parents of the two young participants  to publish their pictures on our website."

The smiles mean everything!

The smiles mean everything!

Tony tying and then the results.

The Main stem can be a fickle dance partner, so everyone can use some tips to help their game and Tony has the juice to help.

Plan on a great meeting.

Banquet update

We had a very successful banquet this year by any measure.  The things I loved most are that we got together, saw new faces, had a great meal and a great time in general.  41 people showed to hang out together, and that counts for a lot.

Many thanks to everyone involved.
