Come to the next Chapter meeting 7:30pm, Thursday, January, 12th at the American Legion Hall in Whippany. Tim Flagler, Scott Fisher, and Cliff Behrens will be tying flies. Learn from the experts and pick up some new fly tying tips. Does it get any better than this? These experts have agreed to come and show our members their secrets to making great flies. If you tie flies you definitely don’t want to miss this one.
Jim Holland Christmas Stocking
The Hacklebarney TU Board Members wish everyone a Happy Holiday. We would also like to tell you that we stocked the Point Mountain section of the Musconetcong River with 250 12"-17" rainbow trout from the Musky Trout Hatchery in collaboration with Fred Burrough's-North Jersey, Ridge & Valley, and Central Jersey TU Chapters. We are calling it the Jim Holland Christmas Stocking in honor of our good friend who passed away this year. Jim was a major influence in the fly-fishing community. He was a generous supporter of Trout Unlimited and a good friend of the Hacklebarney Chapter. Because of Jim, Shannon’s Fly Shop became a fixture for many of us. As well as an educator, he was a conservation advocate for New Jersey. In 2020 and 2021 Jim had asked us to contribute to stocking Point Mountain. We would like to continue this stocking every year in his memory.
We want to thank all the members who donated funds to help us make this possible.
Happy Fishing and Best Wishes to All!

Big Daddy is Back!! One Night Only!! Pot Luck Dinner & Auction
Thursday, December 8th at 7:00PM
Who put the fun in fundraiser? Please come to our fun-raiser event at the American Legion Hall in Whippany. Big Daddy Jim will be the master of ceremonies. This is a meeting that you don’t want to miss!
Everyone is encouraged to bring something for the pot luck dinner. If you don’t cook please pick up something at the supermarket, delicatessen, bakery, pizzeria, or KFC that you can share with others. Big Daddy will be bringing his famous Mac and Cheese. I’m pretty sure Steve will have his Kielbasa and Kraut. Chili is always popular. There will be lots of tasty food, so bring your appetite too.
Bring new or used surplus items that can be auctioned off. Maybe you have too many fly rods and would like to “donate” one for a worthy cause. Classic fishing books, fishing gear, fly tying supplies and tools, gently used fishing clothes, etc. are needed. Do not bring junk. No leaky waders, broken nets, rusty hub caps, etc. Please only bring something that will sell!!! Items that don't sell will be have to be taken back home. If you have nothing, that’s fine too, there will be lots of bargains. Just remember to bring cash or a checkbook!
