Happy Holidays!

This month we are having our annual holiday gathering on Thursday December 8th at 7:30pm. The night will consist of tasty food from fellow members, and an auction where some great prizes will be given away to the lucky winner. Along with the food and auction comes fun times, great fish stories and some excellent laughs. Remember to get your donations for the auction ready or cook your favorite food, and don't be afraid to bring a friend. We hope that everyone will be able to attend this wonderful night. Happy holidays everyone!

Congrats Jon Eng

Congratulations to Jon Eng, VP of Hacklebarney Chapter Trout Unlimited and winner of the Angler of the Year at the One Fly Contest at the Raritan Inn. He was subsequently honored at the Angler of the Year Banquet that evening. On the river last Saturday, he literally mopped up the competition with a fly that must be part alchemy. Beyond his passion for fly fishing, Jon is a conservation champion and can be found at either a tree planting or river clean up many week ends of the year. Like most of us, he joined Hacklebarney TU and benefitted from the sharing environment that helped him develop his skills. Thanks to Rich Thomas and the NJTU State Council, Jon will be joining Rich at the FUDOR one fly contest on the West Branch in 2017
Hacklebarney is proud to have you as a member!

Tree planting on the Paulins kill

There will be a  Paulins Kill Planting event with the Wallkill River Watershed Management Group is almost here.  This great opportunity to make a difference (and to spend some time together outdoors) is taking place this coming Tuesday, November 8, 2016 (Election Day).

Time:  The event will run from 9:30am - 2:30pm.

Meeting spot:  Please meet at the park-and-ride located next to the Chatterbox restaurant (1 Route 15, Augusta, NJ).  This is at the intersection of Route 15 and Route 206.

The group will then drive to the actual location of the planting work.

Please bring a snack or bagged lunch or drink, if you'd like.

Ed and Judy Van Put

You probably remember this husband/wife team as they spoke to us last year about the history of fishing in the Catskills.  They just updated their book on the Beaverkill and it is better than ever. No one knows more about the cradle of fly fishing in America.

The Van Puts

The Van Puts

They will be speaking to us this coming Thursday November 10th in Whippany.  As a special treat, we will be auctioning off flies that Ed had tied. Its your chance to own a piece of history.

Make sure you put this one on your calendar!
