The Musky on Saturday

I was able to get out for a few hours on the Musky Saturday morning.  After three trips to the South Branch where I turned a few heads and had to settle for suckers, not trout, I needed a good day.

I got it. in the form of stocked rainbows.  The fish were hungry and cooperating.  I fished a jig head hares ear and a San Juan trailer.  The stockies almost all took the worm.  The final count was two on the hairs ear and over 10 on the worm.

I got home by noon and spent the rest of the day in the yard, with the family, doing chores.

Central Chapter of TU was out doing the Musky clean up and made me feel guilty, but I had a buddy out with me who recently had back surgery and need his fix of trout fishing.  I only felt guilty for a short period of time.

Hacklebarney Fly Fishing School

Bill Sjovall emailed me and reminded me that we are doing the Hacklebarney Fly Fishing School this May 3rd and 4th at the Hackettstown Hatchery.  To sum this up, there is simply no better way to be immursed into fly fishing.  This two day school will have you casting better, knowing the tackle you need, knowing trout feeding habits and much more.

This is the best thing for that buddy of yours who has always said he wants to learn more about getting into the sport.

Great instruction, a great price and a location that cant be beat.  What are you waiting for? Space is limited, so book today!

Banquet this Saturday - New Venue

Hey folks, if you missed the email, the restaurant we have had the banquet at the past few years, Il Giardino, totally dropped the ball.  We had the basement room reserved, and the new owners decided to renovate and not mention it.  Shame on them!  I  won't be going there again, ever.

Your board of directors scrambled, and the good news is we kept the date, and found another spot.  The Exchange in Rockaway.  We look forward to building a new legacy with this restaurant.  It doesn't hurt that they have 26 beers!  I'll take one of each please!

The Exchange is at 160 East Main Street in Rockaway.  Their number is 973-627-8488, if you happen to need it.

Otherwise, we'll see you at 6pm, dinner is served at 7:30.  Bring your wallets and appetite.

Congrats to John Montefusco!

Congrats to John and family for making the list of NY State Maple Syrup Producers Association.  Everyone is confident that his company, Our Woods Maple, will be making some of the best syrup in the state in short order.

Now if you'll just cough up some free samples, you cheap-o, well be all set!

Seriously, congrats Montefusco clan!
